Everyone's favourite girl band are back... The one and only Spice Girls have just reunited and are set to tour! Pencil in January 17th and say you'll be there to go back in time and re-live the 1990's, platform shoes and all.
I was 12 when I was first introduced to the fab 5. The first album I ever bought was Spice Girls Wanna Be, I can remember watching Spice World over and over and over and over again. I could quote the whole movie at one stage and even though most people said that it was possibly the worst movie they'd ever seen, I begged to differ.
These girls paved my teenage years for me. My locker was stamped with Spice Girls posters, keyrings, every piece of merchandise that was humanly possible for me to afford...I had it (I won't mention waiting every birthday to receive the next edition of the Spice Girl doll to my collection)! 9 years later and I still listen to their boppy tunes on my i-pod whilst I'm working out (but that's totally between you and me).
With Scary, Baby, Posh, Ginger & Sporty I can't wait to see them perform.
There's one thing in particluar that stood out in my mind when I was watching their movie, Baby (Emma Bunton) says "Is everyone still going to be calling me Baby Spice evenwhen I'm.....30?" Guess we'll have to wait to January 17th....

Trust yourself
My arms are killing coz I just did a Body Pump class at the gym, but I secretly love it! Wow I am feeling so happy and in my element at the moment. Being on holidays has really been the best thing for me! As most of you know I really needed a break after the last couple of months, leaving GF, leaving vega and now about to start a new job at Women's Day and Weekly (yes that's right I scored a new one!) I really couldn't be happier. And do you know one of the coolest things about the fact that I am about to start a new job? Drum roll please............. there is a gym at my new work! YAY!!!
But I think the main reason I am feeling so happy is that I trusted my instincts. I had issues before of trusting what my intuition was telling me. But now I know that listening to that little voice inside my head and that gut feeling is really what gets us through the obstacles in lives. Don't be afraid to trust yourself.

If those walls could talk.....
I got to my familie's house for dinner last night only to see that my sister had been moving into my bedroom all day.
I have been moved out of home since October last year, but it's still really hard to see my room being taken over by her. We built that house from scratch and my room was built especially for me.
I walked into Nat's 'new room' and looked over at my boy and I think he could tell I was fighting back tears. It's one thing to move out but another to have your room taken over by your sister. My walk-in wardrobe, my wall - which is now covered - completely in Jesse MaCartney posters, Britney Spears song words and the odd Girlfriend cover is offically not mine. I spose I can't be upset. I have the coolest apartment with my boy and living out of home has alot of perks. Maybe I should just be happy for my sis. I've had a lot of fun times in my room and now she can have too! It is the biggest room (out of the 3 children's). I spent the prime of my teen years in there, crying in my wardrobe when dad wouldn't let me go out, speaking ot friends for hours on end (those walls have heard alot of interesting info) and now she can too. So sis if you're reading this, please look after it and I won't mention the fact that one of my dear friends gave her brother $800 to move into his room.

The Cutest Things I have ever seen. EVER!
OK I know I've already posted today but I just happened to be trying to kill time and surfing the net when I stumbled across this cute website which (ironically) is www.cuteoverload.com, I just had to share!
These are the cutest pics I've seen since Liz's 'Friday Afternoon Love' emails. For those of you who don't know what Friday Afternoon Love is, it's when Liz (the gorge Art Director at GF) sent round cutesy emails to excite us for the weekend! YAY! So I have posted some pics for you to enjoy in memory of Friday Afternoon Love. Let's call it 'Thursday, just because it's cute'.

Genie in a bottle, Pregnant to the Candyman?
I have just read that Christina Aguilera is pregnant! A source told Star: "Jordan (her hubby) was blown away! He told her the baby was the greatest present ever! Christina's always been maternal. There's no doubt Christina will make a fabulous mother."
I am over the moon for her. Not just for because she'll be a mother BUT I am happy because she will be fat and no longer be that hot songstress I pine to look like (just have a look at the pic if you don't believe me). She's no Jessica Simpson, but it is not humanly possible to look that hot in a two-piece flight attendant uniform (she wears in her Candyman videoclip).
The news hasn't been confirmed from her rep yet.
In other news Erica Baxter and James packer have wed and had two ceremonies, yes that's TWO! Yawn! OK she's gorgeous, OK he's a scientologist, OK he's a millionaire and OK they've got too much money but really, two ceremonies? Whatev! All I know is I'm having a massive bunch of cupcakes for my wedding cake; they'll have all different designs on them and will melt in your mouth. Not that I'm getting married anytime soon....and going off onto random tangents in my writing.....
Ooh it's also my last day at vega today! Hip, hip, hooray!
Enjoy the sunshine,

New York, New York.....
As I sit here at my desk and this gross weather goes on outside I wonder what it would be like to be out of temperamental Sydney and in busy, bright lights New York. I've always wanted to go there and to live there would be a dream of mine come true. But if I did move over there what about my friends, my boyfriend, my family? I don't think I could do it without at least one of them. I've imagined what it would be like to work at a magazine over there. Teen Vogue's glossy pages spring to my mind. Everyday would be like a scene out of 'The Devil Wears Prada' trying to impress work colleagues with my fashion choices, trying to work my way up to my dream. I don;t know why my career means to much to me. I've always been really ambitious and always thought I would put my career before anything.
Someone once told me it shouldn't matter what everyone else wants, it's about what you want in your life. I'm at a time in my life where I want to be somewhere without having to take backwards steps to get there. I'm the kinda gal who needs to be praised upon for the things that she does, reassured that what I do is really meaning something and not nothing. I know I will get there and i am still young but I can't help thinking that life is getting away from me as well. If it's one thing I've realised lately is that life is too short. Too short for being angry, too short for getting upset and too short for doing things that other people want you to do.
What do you think?

A night to remember...
Haha as I write this I am still laughing to myself! What a funny night, filled with laughter, drinking and some really bad singing!
Milli and Mandy's mum's house is where the night begun with photos, nibblies and excitement. Next the bus. Some say this was the highlight of their night. Maybe it was Simo getting up and doing his Johnny Farnham solo, maybe it was the relief of the toilet stops (on the side of the road, near the art museum!). Or maybe it was the whole 35 of us dressed up as our fave rockstars from the 80's. Whatever it was there was not a face without a smile and a hand without a drink.
Karaoke World was pretty interesting... $22 for a bottle of champers (hey, once you're drunk you'll pay anything. A little out of control with the handling of the mikes. But I got my Spice girls solo in with the girls which is all I wanted to achieve in the karaoke stakes. Table dancing seemed to be the only way to get noticed if you didn't have a mike in your hand. Not that I did that or anything.
After a well and truly good boogie. And I mean good, a couple of us wandered into a few other rooms to join in on other people's fun, another thing that I was not involved in.
After losing a few of the crew and a couple of really abusive phone calls (sorry baby) we headed onto The Retro. Before you all ask what the heck is The Retro? I will explain...Cool club on Sussex St, well cool, coz it's got like 5 levels and has different eras of music playing throughout, ie. 70's, 80's, not cool coz we almost had to pay $20 to get in (thanks Mandy). After we'd boogied til we could not boogie anymore (well actually I could have kept going coz I was on a super-high after Spice Girls 'Who do you think you are' came on) it was time to leave.
So I walked down the 4 flights of stairs with Kel and waited out the front. Waited and waited until a couple of our friends walked out crying (Poor Milli). All of a sudden 2 cop cars pulled up and two of our mates walked out with bleeding noses and black eyes. Hhhmm had I missed something? Yes apparently there was a bit of a ker-fuffle with the bouncers (SOO not cool!) and some of the crew ended up at our local hospital getting stitches.
All in all it was an amazing night and the Twinnies had a ball which is the main thing! Yay!
Pics above to see how hot we all looked! See if you can spot Tina Turner...!

One to get you smiling before the weekend
I'm not usually one to pass on lame emails or chain letters and I HATE whenever I see that someone has forwarded a forward to my inbox.
BUT I just had to share this one with you. Convict by Paris Hilton (pictured left), no it's really not a new fragrance by Paris, but a mere stab at the heiress.
Poor Paris, you know I love her and really feel for her as she's now back in jail and all(bless poor Paris), but this will really make you smile, if not laugh out loud with crazy, evil laughter!
Enjoy and have a fab-tabulous weekend! I know I will!

P.S This Saturday night is The Twinnie's party so I'll have pictures for you next week. Stay tuned....

Ever get the feeling something doesn't feel right?
Have you ever had the feeling that something just isn't right? That dress you bought from Sportsgirl or that Mimco bag you paid x amount of dollars for? Maybe you had a premonition or just a feeling that things weren't right?
I for one have always managed to understand if things are mean't to be or not mean't to be, just by a feeling.
One feeling I've had for quite some time now has really hung round. Like a bad smell. Making me sick with worry and unhappiness. That feeling is re. my work life. I have been working full time since I left high school. SO lucky to have gotten my foot in the door of one of the biggest publishing houses in Australia. Being there for 3 years saw me move onto something I thought was what I wanted, but in actual fact was totally not. Swapping my pink heels for black flats was not the move I intended to take.
Getting into radio was something I thought I wanted to do; but alas I was wrong. As of next week I would have been here for 3 months. End of probationary period and start of my career in radio sales. For someone who is used to writing about celebrities, festivals and self-respect to someone who has to get her head around how much money we need to get a client to invest, it was truly not for me.
I got to the point where everyday was an effort. To leave my house at 6.45am. and get home at 6.45pm. I need to be passionate about what I do. I need to feel like I want to come in to work everyday and be able to face my one hour bus ride and 45 minute walk in the freezing cold for a reason. But there was no longer reason for me. A light inside me turned on and today I resigned from my job at vega. With the world at my fingertips I decided that life is too short to be unhappy.
But don't worry, you'll see me in the credit lines of one of your fave mags very soon.
Watch this space.

Paris's Prison Break
So I guess you've all heard the news?
Paris has been released from jail!
That's right, America's favourite socialite has made front page world news yet again after '5 Days' of serving her 23 day sentence.
I've heard a couple of opinions about the whole fiasco this morning, 'she should have stayed in there longer', 'she got off scott-fee'. Whatever Civilians, I think good on her, yay for Paris. Getting a 45 day jail sentence for driving without a license is pretty cruel. The reasoning behind her early departure? Medical conditions. She will now serve the rest of her sentence at home - that is her Hollywood Hills mansion which sources asure us "Paris Hilton has been fitted for an ankle bracelet and put under house arrest, after authorities determined to release Hilton from prison due to medical reasons," says Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department spokesman Steve Whitmore. With insiders revealing that Paris was actually on the verge of a nervous breakdown in prison and the fact that L.A P.D could have a hefty law suit on their hands."Paris has been crying on the phone, saying she's not sleeping or eating. Paris says her cell is 'freezing cold'. She has three little blankets and no pillow. She's using one of the blankets as a pillow. The room is bright and jail noise echoes through her space," TMZ said.
I would have been the verge on a breakdown as well - any normal person would have been!?! I for one am relieved that Paris has swapped her pink barred jail cell for her mansion in The Hills.
And, it seems just in time for long weekend!
Have a great one blogettes and bloggers. I know I will!

Brain fizzeling out....really soon.....
My brain is going a million miles an hour as I've just finished my homework for my mag feature writing course I'm doing. Reading, reading, more reading and a 600 word Paint-a-Scene exercise - Information overload! BUT it was really good to get my brain working in that way again. you know the way the 'thinking way' I don't think I remember thinking like that since ...well ever, just kidding, but probably since high school.
I love the way my brain is getting to function. Not just getting stressed out like it's used to at work all the time.
Phew! In other news the countdown to the long weekend has begun! One sleep! WHOOOOO!!!!!

Just in case you didn't know already...
.....The latest issue of Girlfriend is too good for words. Coming from someone who was a former cast member of the teen publication, if Mischa B. doesn't call you into the glossy, fashionista-style pages, then the content definitely will!
The Fashion Issue features with cute-as-a-button heart earrings just for you. Choose you fave colour in red, blue or black - or why not collect all three, I know I will be!
My last couple of guru/quiz pages will feature in this issue too, next month you'll be experiencing guru/quizzes from Carina's point of view (I handed over the GF Ed Coordinator reigns to her), you'll meet Carina in this issue though so get aquainted with her, she's gorgeous, talented and heaps of fun!
Head onto the GF website (http://au.youth.yahoo.com/girlfriend/) to have another sneak peek and to find out what you're missing out on. I've included a few tid-bids to get your tastebuds going here. Enjoy.

A Time to Reflect
The thought for today is to do with Miss Hilton. Paris, the heiress to her father's empire. She checked into jail last night 2 days before she was due. An interview I heard with her at the MTV Awards last night in L.A (the last place she was seen publicly), she said "I'm scared but I'm being strong and I'm ready to face my sentence. "I hope this can be an example to other young people and be something positive.
"These past couple of weeks have been a lot of self-reflecting on my life and what's important," she added.
A papparazzi who has been following Paris and her trial has said that "They're making an example out of her, this would never happen to any other person."
I salute young Paris. She's doing her time and I heard reports that she went in after having to be strip-searched - externally and internally. This was something that she really was not looking forward to, but despite this is in good spirits.
Her cell-mate was chosen (many women were interviewed) and it was said that this woman had a particular character, a character that would not serve her sentence and sell her story to the press. But we'll just have to wait and see how much money she gets offered, then she'll be singing a different tune - won't she?!
From Girl Next Door to Paris Hilton Good Luck Darlin' our hearts and thoughts are with you!
Til next time,
Girl Next Door xx
P.S Leave me a comment on what you think about Paris doing her time.

Life is a Journey...
Ever wish you knew certain information in your life to help you get through the bad times? I mean you could always listen to your parents - which I can tell you right now I was really not that good at! Or you could figure things out for yourself.
I believe it's 'these things we figure out for our selves' that shape our identity. The things we experience as we go through our everyday lives make us a better (or worse) person.
I could write the book on what I could have told myself when I was younger - what I would have said to myself 16 year old self. It would go a little something like this:
"Dear Belinda,
You've been working for 2 years now, start saving - so when you're in your twenties you can move out of home and not be struggling, not be dependant on anyone else and not being able to purchase things you long to have - like a pink digital camera, or those hot sunnies that you fell in love with.
Boys, you will find the right one, the one who treats you like you should be treated - a princess, nothing less.
Family, they are one of your biggest treasures and the moments you spend with them are sparkling gems, so look after them.
Friends, another breed that should treat you with the respect and love that you need. They're there for you when you need them and when you don't.
Good Luck and remember to stay true to yourself. Don't change anything about yourself for anyone (unless it's completely necessary - like giving up that nicotine habit, starting to have breakfast in the mornings or exercising.)
In the long run you will thank me.
Love Belinda "
Wouldn't life be soooo much easier if we all had guardian angels to tell us what to do and what to look out for. But maybe we woudln't be the people we were without realising things for ourselves??
Just a thought for the day ahead,
Happy Monday.
